KTSG Inaugurates Committee for Education Sector Reforms

The Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has established a special committee tasked with identifying and addressing the challenges facing the state’s education sector. The committee’s focus will be on primary, secondary, and tertiary education to pinpoint existing problems and propose sustainable solutions.

During the inauguration ceremony held at the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, representing the Governor, emphasized the importance of the committee's work, reiterating that education is the foundation of any meaningful societal development. "Education is the cornerstone of every progressive community. Faced with numerous challenges in our education sector, His Excellency the Governor has established this committee to build a lasting foundation for the future of education in Katsina State," he stated.

The committee comprises key stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Primary and Secondary Education, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Education, and representatives from the Ministries of Rural Development, Women Affairs, and Technical and Vocational Education. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education will serve as the committee’s secretary.

Among the committee's tasks are:
1. Conducting a comprehensive assessment of the state of primary and secondary education in Katsina.
2. Identifying the obstacles hindering the development of the education system.
3. Proposing practical and sustainable solutions to these challenges.
4. Providing recommendations on how to enhance tertiary education in the state.
5. Offering additional advice to ensure the overall advancement of the education sector.

Faskari further called on the public, particularly individuals with constructive ideas, to contribute to finding solutions to the issues plaguing the education sector. "We urge the public, especially experts and intellectuals, to approach the committee with their input so that we can collectively make progress," he added.

The committee chairman, Alhaji Falalu Bawale, who is also the Head of Service for Katsina State, expressed gratitude to the Governor for entrusting them with such a significant responsibility. He assured that the committee would work diligently to complete the task within the set timeframe.

Alhaji Bawale noted that the committee would collaborate closely with all relevant stakeholders in the education sector to ensure their efforts align with the needs of the people. "We are committed to reforming the education sector, especially at the primary and secondary levels. This responsibility is of utmost importance," he said.

He further mentioned that the committee’s doors would remain open to anyone with valuable suggestions that could help revive the education sector in the state. "Our doors are open to everyone who has meaningful contributions that can lead to the betterment of education in Katsina," Bawale reaffirmed.

He also praised the Governor for his visionary leadership and thanked him for the confidence placed in the committee. Alhaji Bawale expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of all committee members, they would deliver a comprehensive report that would be beneficial to the state.

"We understand the urgency of this task, and I am confident that with the support of committee members and the public, we will present a high-quality report that will help elevate the education sector," he concluded.

The inauguration of this committee marks a crucial step in addressing the challenges facing Katsina’s education system. With the expertise and dedication of its members, it is hoped that the committee will introduce meaningful reforms that will improve the state’s educational standards.

In his closing remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, on behalf of the Governor, expressed his gratitude and prayed for the success of the committee’s work. "We pray for success in achieving this goal, solving the problems facing our education sector, and securing a brighter future for our community," he stated.

With this, the committee's work to reform the education sector in Katsina State officially commenced.
